مذاکرات هستهای ایران و شش قدرت جهانی از سپتامبر ۲۰۱۳ با ورود آمریکا جدی شد و طی کمتر از دوسال در ژوئیه ۲۰۱۵ توافق نهایی هستهای حاصل شد. بعد از توافق، از دوستان مذاکره کننده ایرانیام پرسیدم کدام کشور منفی ترین نقش را ایفاء کرد؟ بدون لحظهای تامل گفتند: فرانسه! در عین حال، وقتی اصول توافق هستهای در آوریل ۲۰۱۵ نهایی و رفع تحریمها قطعی شد، فرانسه خود را در صف مقدم عقد قراردادهای اقتصادی با ایران قرارداد!

Despite Iran Deal, U.S.-Iran Relations Still Very Much Up in the Air
The implementation of the Iran nuclear deal was a landmark achievement. Iran has at last received long-awaited sanctions relief after fulfilling its obligations under the agreement, verified last week by a report released by the International Atomic Energy Agency. It remains unclear, however, if the way has now been cleared for greater economic development and an enhancement of Iran’s foreign relations, which have been goals of the centrist administration of President Hassan Rouhani.

El diplomàtic iranià Seyed Hossein Mousavian va participar en les negociacions que, entre el 2003 i el 2005, van intentar una primera aproximació entre la comunitat internacional i l’Iran sobre el seu programa nuclear. Instal·lat actualment als EUA -dóna classes a la Universitat de Princeton-, va ser a Barcelona dissabte per participar en un seminari del Cidob.
